MAKE SURE YOU HAVE TURNED IN BOTH OF THE FIELD TRIP FORMS FOR THE TWO TRIPS THIS FRIDAY - ROUGE RIVER AND EARTH DAY MOVIE AT MJR :)
Here is the Movie form for Friday AM. Scroll down for the Rouge River form for Friday PM
movie field trip form.jpg

Attention 6th Graders! Please consider the following two trips for next year:

The first one is to Philadelphia and NYC, October 7-11, 2015. We currently have 55 students registered (40 attending and 15 on a wait list) and need an additional 15 to register in order to open up a second bus. There is a link to the trip information on the website, but in case you want to print it off and share it with your students, you can click October 2015 Philly/NYC. The deadline is May 15.
The second trip is to Chicago for the Fiesta International, April 22-23, 2016. We need 30 in order for this trip to happen and we currently have 20 registered. Even though this is a Spanish trip, if you aren't currently taking Spanish, you are still more than welcome to register. Click April 2016 Fiesta International/Chicago for information. We don’t have an official deadline for this trip because it is a year away, but the sooner we reach 30, the sooner we can move forward with the planning.

5th grade:
No homework due to MSTEP testing taking place during class today - make sure you have all corrections turned in, though! (This includes any test corrections.)
6th grade: Work on remediation of 6th grade material using the BigIdeas website. The retest is tomorrow. Any corrections or missing work is due tomorrow or it will not make it onto report cards. Remember - 6th grade math class is meeting tomorrow morning first thing because of Mstep schedule changes :)
Science: We discussed our projects not being due until next week because of MSTEP testing taking away some time, but please make sure you have all paperwork assignments turned in such as the "How Do I Choose The Best Photo Editing Tool" sheet given back before break and the "What Inspires You Photography Proposal" packet. I cannot enter these after tomorrow.

6th grade: Page 106:numbers: 10, 11, 13, 19, 20, 22, 24, 25, & 39. Many of you finished this during the end of class today. Use extra time to review the 5 different ways we practiced to isolate the variable as I would like to assess our progress on this before moving forward to two-step equations! If you are someone who needed review on exponent rules this is something you should be looking over as well so that it does not get in the way of new 7th grade material.

Math
5th grade: 6-5 Remembering page. Do the M-Step practice below if you were absent today.
Ms. Miller will be taking her 5th grade math To practice for the M-Step test in the lab during her math classes. If you are going to be absent this week, please follow the directions below and get your practice in at home. Testing will start after break so you need to be prepared!
Use a device with Google Chrome and visit the following link:
https://wbte.drcedirect.com/MI/portals/mi/ott1
The website will then give you a username and password to type in. If the link above does not work, go to this page:
http://www.michigan.gov/mde/0,4615,7-140-22709_70117-350540--,00.html
and read the paragraphs to find a new link given. Copy and paste it into google chrome. Click on the 2015 Preview Link, and then you will then need to click to sign on. Once on the sign in page, use the username and password displayed on the screen to log in.
Pay attention to the types of questions this new test asks and be sure to explore all of the different tools give to you to use so that they are not a distraction during the REAL test later on.
6th grade: Tomorrow we are going back and taking one of the 6th grade material tests again. In order to prepare:
Remember to spend some time going to
https://www.bigideasmath.com/
Click student & use your school username and birthday password to login
Click on the Dynamic Assessment and Progress Monitoring Tool
Take the new practice test that was set up for you last Friday
After you completed this test, the program will list a set of remediation videos and activities to visit and learn from. Spend the week watching these so you can figure out any misconceptions.
The goal is for you to be able to get a 100% on this test when you take it tomorrow and prove that you have mastered the concepts in that chapter or at least improved on them since learning them earlier this year during 6th grade material. Each week we are revisiting a chapter from 6th grade material to catch any misconceptions or remember things forgotten. If your score at the end of the week is higher than the chapter test grade you got earlier this year we can replace your grade on powerschool. This has the potential to help with your math class placement!!!!
Science
Make sure you bring your photo editing evaluation rubric sheet to class tomorrow and have a PLAN of ACTION ready with your partner that you will be able to write about in the packet shown earlier today. All pictures should be taken BEFORE class, not during.
